Hooray for 2009!

Well, 2009 is here and when it arrived, I was fast asleep. 🙂  I did, however, get to greet it in the wee hours of the morning.  Around 130, 530, and 730 to be exact!

As I mentioned last year, I am not to big on making resolutions. But I’m going to make a few teeny tiny ones so I can remember I wrote them down for all to read. 🙂  I don’t bother with the obvious ones that I need to work on because I feel those are not resolutions but more important to just always keep working on. I think if I made a resolution (and then promptly broke it) I would just not feel good about myself.

The obvious ones I mean are things like having more patience with my children, living in the moment and not thinking about other things that I COULD be doing but am not, and having a better attitude.  I think the attitude one affects everything!

Anyway, so here are my cheesy resolutions:

1) Keep the Kitchen clean! Yes, I talked about cleaning last year and that didn’t really work… but for Christmas we have our entire kitchen clean – meaning the counters.  We have three main counters in the kitchen and they are all clean. I am not however talking about the coffee table or the counter in the family room because most of the clutter just got moved over there… LOL – But I think there is less clutter because the kitchen is cleaned! I know, this is a slightly lame resolution but if I can keep the kitchen clean, I feel like the cleanliness could spread over to other areas of the house… HEE!  So I want my kitchen to always be clean. That usually involves things like opening up the mail and throwing away envelopes and actually DOING something with the mail when it comes in. Instead of letting it sit for a month.

Not really a resolution but more of a plan… I need to do some ‘spring’ cleaning on my office, bedroom, and kids rooms!

2) Expand my cooking list! Yes, I need to start adding to my recipe category again! I am so happy that I am still cooking though, I feel like we have been healthier this year and saved more money. G is starting to eat a ton of people food and I want to make some different things this year.  Get out the barbecue (and not be afraid to light the darn thing) and start grilling.

3) My weight and keeping healthy – Yes, always a factor in all resolutions… well all of mine, anyway! I need to really hit the gym on a regular basis this year.  The past three weeks I haven’t gone at all because we have all been sick but that needs to change.  I want to get back down to a good weight and not gain it all back once I stop nursing.

4) I want to blog more often. I don’t really want to give myself a “you must blog everyday” resolution because that probably won’t happen but I want to write more.  I, like everyone else, want to write a book one day and my writing skills need improving! I want to work on those skills and blogging is my current outlet for that.

And not a resolution but more of a remark.. and excitement.  2009 is going to be exciting to be with my family.  Sam will be going into preschool this year if we can get her potty trained and seeing her learn new things everyday is so cool. I can’t wait to explore new things with her and see her grow.  The same thing goes with Griffin. He is so cute and learning new things as well. These kids are so cute together and I can’t wait to see more fun things happen in 2009!

Have a great year, everyone! Did you make a resolution? What is it? I wanna know! 🙂

Kristi – these are great resolutions – I laugh about keeping that kitchen clean – for one – that does not go along with expanding your cooking list – that will make the first resolution harder. 😉 On blogging and writing skills – this is an awesome website, for one, and second, I applaud your desire to write a book. I also have such desires. We can aspire together.
