Happy 18th, G

by Kristi on March 31, 2026

Oof.

Typing this up the evening of his 18th birthday. We played some Taco, Cat, Pizza… something all together. Yay, Sam is home! We then played two rounds of Overcooked.

Then he disappeared up to go work on his Evite for his birthday party.

18. Wow.

This literally was the culmination of a barrage of crap thrown at him that has all finished. College acceptances, Eagle Scout, ridiculous Stats, Music Man… are we done? We are through some of it! AHHH

I ended up throwing together this incredibly sappy and sentimental video over the weekend. Just enough to make me sadddddd omggggg. But I couldn’t be sad for long since Sam was home. This was the first time that I actually watched his birth video too. So weird to watch it back. Well, I found it a few months ago, so it wasn’t just this week. But still. Wild.

Decided to go with the Broadway theme and set it to Jonathan Groff, his idol.

It’s YOUR time, G!! Watching you grow up has been such a wonderful adventure! From your joy at following your big sister, dancing through life, exploring all there is to offer, it’s been a joy to see the thoughtful, kind, sweet, and empathetic young man you have become.

I tried not to be a “bad mama” with you but I couldn’t help getting sappy and sentimental with this one. Life IS unexpected, it’s a roller coaster, and it’s beautiful AND I’m so proud to be your Mama!

Happy 18th birthday!! Welcome to adulthood. Have fun with it!
