My FAVORITE eco-friendly lunch box place is having a sale! I have to tell you… I have waited for their Rover boxes to be on sale for over a year and I NEVER… EVER… see them on sale. They will put Launch on sale maybe once or twice a year but never the Rover system. So if you were looking to buy in, I encourage you to jump on it!
We first got ours in 2012 – see post – and then we got G one the next year. S is still on her same box, same carry case (I scrubbed it until it was good as new!), and I think we had to replace one of the rubber seals in our snack box, plus buy another spoon.
Both kids love their boxes. They keep their larger snack tin for snack time that is easy to take out and we have a thermos for juice/milk that goes in the front as well. At lunch, they bring out the whole case and open their lunch tin.
The tin goes in the dishwasher once a week (who am I kidding… we wash it out really well each night and never put it in the dishwasher… but we COULD!) and the biggest PITA is rinsing out their gross thermoses, which I kid you not, I dig in the straw with a toothpick to get out the black specs of mold. Bleah. (The thermoses we don’t even get from PlanetBox, I’m just complaining..) And I’m totally not a germ person either. My husband just LOOKS at me in disbelief when I will sit there for 20 minutes scratching it all out. I’ll ignore anti-bacterial soap, I’ll drink from the kids water bottles (or at least they drink from mine), I grab nuts out of our communal nut tin… but I’ll spend 20 minutes scratching out mold from a straw. Anyway.
We LOVE love LOVE our lunch boxes and we have converted at least three of our friends over the last year and a half.
