iPhone Tips & Tricks

Ok, I adore my iPhone. Anyone who mentions the iPhone in my presence immediately has me chiming in with, “The iPhone has CHANGED MY LIFE!!”.ย  I seriously adore it. I would marry it if I could. I mean, if I wouldn’t be charged with bigamy. Or looked at oddly for marrying a baby computer. Would that be considered computer cradle robbing?

I’m tired. ๐Ÿ™‚ Obviously batty.

OK.

For our newest iPhone convert!! Hooray!

– You can move your icons around! I love this. Press on an icon for a few seconds and they start rumbling around.ย  Then you can move them.ย  I love the fact that you can move things to different pages. I like my front page uncluttered so I just have three rows of items.ย  I moved things like Settings to the second page, etc.ย  I also have a third page completely filled with games and other items for Sam. She adores my iPhone. Probably the reason why we are getting her a Leapster for Christmas. Er, or Santa is.

Think about the four main things you use ALL THE TIME and make sure those are your bottom four that show up on every screen. I moved my Text icon down there. Also, for non Mac users, Safari is your Internet browser! Just in case you didn’t know. ๐Ÿ™‚

– Along with the Safari tip, you have 8 different ‘tabs’ or sites that you can keep open at a time. You can’t have more then 8, so sometimes it will tell you have to close some windows. You can switch through them very easily on the bottom right.

– Pressing the ‘home’ button twice pops you to your Favorites on your Phone.ย  Really handy and quick. If you want it to go somewhere else, I believe you can change that in your settings though.

– When in your browser or other areas, tapping the top status bar twice scrolls you to the top of the page. SO helpful.

– Take 3G off if you want to conserve battery. Edge is probably just as good for voice (talking on the phone) or even better because sometimes 3G drops calls.ย  If you are surfing on the Internet though, you may want to turn it back on. Also, fiddle with your Wifi settings, always use that if you have one available.

– You can set bookmarks up to websites as Icons on your desktop! I LOVE that! I adore adore ADORE my Google Reader for the iPhone. It’s http://www.Google.com/Reader/i/ and it’s so fast, I love reading blogs on my phone when I’m nursing G, bored, or just sitting at a red light in the car. haha ๐Ÿ™‚

– Google Maps is the coolest thing ever. I love typing in ‘Borders’ and it finding all the nearest bookstores in my viewable map. How cool is that? It knows where I am. (Ok, maybe scary…) but GREAT for directions!

– It tells you who your voicemails are from.

– It keeps a record of your texts which is SO handy. I love that.ย  (I wish I could copy and paste though. Oh, and view images that people send me in texts, what’s up with that!?)

– Cool aps that I have: Google Earth, Urbanspoon (you shake your phone and it’s like a jackpot of restaurants to visit!?!), Lightsaber (we have Darth Vador fights with Sam on our phones), FakeCall (haha), Shazam (music thingy, SO COOL), iTalk (voice recorder)…

– Cool Sam related aps: Adventure: Preschool games that she loves. JirboBounce, JirboMatch (like Memory, she is SO smart at it), PacMan Lite, Aerolite, and Koi Pond. She loves feeding my fish! I have a few others that I download and delete later.

– Twitter is awesome on my iPhone. I am using TwitterFon but used to use Twitterific. I really like TwitterFon right now.ย  I also get texted directly when a few friends twitter so that always reminds me to go look at my TwitterAp to see what’s going on, but lately I’m usually visiting it first because I love Twitter. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m getting some great new blogs to read from everyone, I love it.

– From TapTapTap, here are some REALLY useful iPhone tips that I just read about last week. I knew a few, but I also learned a few!

– OH, one more…. when taking a picture, hold the camera button while you are focusing and when you are reading to take your picture, let your finger off the button. Then it will take the picture. It’s nice to try and ‘focus’ first.

Let me know if you have some good tips you want to add! ๐Ÿ™‚

Of course!! Just let me know!

I never liked going to the Blogger website and would instead email posts to my super secret Blogger email address that it gives you in your settings. ๐Ÿ™‚ There is a special email address that you can send pictures and text and it will post it to your blog. I found that was the easiest way, especially since the email feature was so awesome!

Although, I didn’t manage to set up Krysta on her hotmail address, I’m not sure how Yahoo is with it. The Gmail email was FANTASTIC, so you may just have to switch to Gmail email too! heehee!

You can either go to TinyUrl and make a tinyturl, or Twitter just does it for you when you paste in your URL to the Twitter box.

Will have to check out the baby monitor! Fun!
