Good Job, New York

by Kristi on June 27, 2011

I smiled when I heard the news that New York had approved same-sex marriages. I loved seeing the rainbow photo of the Empire State building. Did you see it? It was beautiful.

This morning, I enjoyed this article from David Frumm. A decade ago he opposed same-sex marriage yet now? He changed his mind. I’m so glad he had the courage to change his mind and point that out.

He also pointed out a link that I read last week that talked how college-educated women who got married in the 1990’s were much less likely to get divorced than in the 1970’s. We are moving in the right direction for happy and stable families.

People need to be happy. Men, women, children… If you get married and need to get divorced, do what you need to do. Don’t stay in a bad relationship. But I think couples are putting more thought into it now, and taking their time to be sure they are with the one they want to spend the rest of their lives with. Also, the divorces that do happen? One I have seen recently through a friend is very friendly and keep the children in mind.

Be happy, people!
