Naptime

So, a few people have told me I’m a little obsessed with Sam’s schedule. *ahem* Schedules are VERY IMPORTANT things though!! If she doesn’t have her nap, we both aren’t happy. LOL – Anyway, Sam always goes down for a nap at 1:15, rather we walk upstairs then and do the whole book reading thing. She goes down by 145 and sleeps until 4 or 5.

So today J decided to go into the office for a ‘few’ hours. On his vacation. LOL – No, it was fine because Krysta was coming over so I made sure that she would be here when I put Sam down.

I know I’m going to have to do this by myself but I just wasn’t quite ready to do it TODAY. And gosh, thank heavens for Krysta today!

So, Jeannine and Trevor stop by at 12:15 or so to meet Griffin. Sam is having a ball playing with Trevor (8 months, soooo cute!! Why didn’t I take a picture, duh?) and Jeannine is meeting G. 12:30 rolls around and Krysta comes in.

Now, G had an awesome night last night. Fussy time was between 8pm and 11pm (instead of 2-4 or 1-3) and he got up at 3, was down at 4, and I woke up at 7:15 to get him up (we went out this morning so I had to – LOL). So, I fed G at 730… but then he was hungry again at 9:45 (instead of 10:30 – making his next feeding time 1:30 or 2).

After I fed him at 9:45, at this point it was just Sam and I in the house… he fell asleep so I decided to change Sam’s diaper (always a harrowing task – she hates it) and then he woke back up again. So I changed HIS diaper and then fed him again, which was around 10:30. LOL But it was only one side. Anyway, he fell asleep at that point and I hung out with Sam, which was totally fine.

So back to the visitors… 12:30… I KNEW that G wouldn’t make it until 2, after I put Sam down and I didn’t want to make Krysta rock him when he was lunging for HER boob (I asked her if she wanted to be my wet nurse – haha – yes they DID do that ‘back then’, it seems a little freaky now though, huh?).

So, I put Sam’s lunch down for her and then fed G, and Krysta was overseeing Sam. Krysta played with Sam while I finished up and then it was 1:15, time to go up! I handed G over to Krysta, and he was waking up and doing the lunging thing… but I ran upstairs. I took the rest of Sam’s lunch, since she has an annoying habit of NOT eating and then wanting TONS of food while she is going down for a nap and if you don’t bring something you end up running up and down the stairs with a nap procrastinator.

Sam starts telling me she doesn’t want to take a nap. Fine. She has done this a few times in the past few weeks. I tell her yes, it is naptime, here are books, you lie down read your books, close your eyes and go to sleep. LOL

Anyway, I leave her, go downstairs. Sam is pretty quiet, we have the monitor on. G has an extremely dirty diaper and when I unwrap him, joy of all joys, he has an explosion and is wet all over. Yay. So I do the running around thing for more towels, new clothes, etc. etc.

Of course he screams his head off when I’m changing his diaper… and what do you hear on the monitor? “Mama, Baby G, Baby B, Baby G…” “Baby G, nite nite, Baby G nite nite, Baby G, Baby G, Baby G”.

OMG. LOL – So, I hand G off to Krysta, clean and dry, LUNGING for a boob again, sorry you can’t have hers! I go upstairs and find Sam… sitting at the edge of her bed. She tries to get up and walk out the door! Where she would see Krysta holding baby G, and OF COURSE, want to play again! Um NO! Telling me she went poop – um, no she didn’t. We have a nice little argument where she refuses to lie down, wants more food, wants to see Baby G. No nap, etc. etc. I tell her NO, it IS nap time, LIE DOWN, and walk out the door to wild hysterical screams, choking, snuffling, etc. etc.

Whew. I had to stop the argument somehow. You can’t argue with a 2yo. Go downstairs, bring up more cheese and milk. She’s quiet now but still sitting on the edge of the bed. Feed her the food, read her a quick story, tell her she needs to go to bed. Argues, AGAIN. More crying. I tell her, she just needs to lie down and read her books and have quiet time. No arguments. I will come back when she’s done with her nap and I walk out. She wasn’t screaming but not happy.

LOL – Thinking it was never going to work.

Go down. Finish feeding G. Luckily, we hear not a peep again from Sam. Miracle of miracle…. And G falls asleep and I wrap him up and he’s still sleeping. And it’s 4pm… as I was interrupted about a thousand times while writing this. LOL

How do people do it? I’m assuming they just DO and it will all work out. Won’t it be fun figuring it all out though? Ugh.

Off to answer one last question for the tax man. Harass the Drs into filling a prescription for me and Griff for my poor aching BOOBS. Blah. Can I say excruciating pain?? Luckily I’m already starting to treat it so it’s not as bad.

Of course, now it’s 9pm… funny how time gets away from you… and G’s Dr refused to give him a prescription because he is not showing symptoms of thrush, yet *I* have it and that is the one common bacteria that is always passed back and forth… grrr. And my Dr never called me back and probably hasn’t filled my prescription. Of course. Nice. 🙂

But G is sleeping again. So that is nice. I will wake him up again at 10 and feed him and hopefully get another 4 hours out of him! He really is a sweet baby, I’m waiting for the 2 week mark though to keep saying that. LOL – Don’t they just sleep the first two weeks? 🙂

Whew! I’m tired just reading that! I liked the part where you asked Krysta to be your wet nurse! That’s funny!

Yea…. I though it was funny too Drew… as if Im not nursing enough babies right now 😉 ha ha… This day was not half as bad as Kristi’s description! She needs more sleep!

Griffin is SO snuggly!!! I cant believe how teeny he is. Gosh they grow so fast. Everyone always tells you this, but you just don’t get it till time slips away from YOU!

Okay, so the trick is getting one sleep trained before having the second? I think you’ve scared me away from having anymore!

wow! sounds like a fun day. lol. we were so strict with avalon. then when nolan came it was so hard to stick to the schedules. so we ended up being more lax with the schedule. which is coming around to haunt us now. lol. it was eaiser to not have a srtict schedule when nolan was a baby, but now, it is defintely harder and we are cracknd down on the scheule. Good luck. 🙂
