18 Months Old

Sam is officially 1 ½ years old today. WOW! What a year and a half. It’s been a fun and exciting ride. I am going to steal a leaf from Jamie’s book and go over a fun list of what we have accomplished over this time.

Stats at Birth: 7 lbs, 1 oz, 20 in

NOW: 24 lbs, 12 oz, 32 ½ in
In the 55% for weight and 75% for height.

Favorite words: We are working on this. The Doc is not concerned and seemed to laugh at the way she ‘says’ things… it’s just she keeps her mouth closed most of the times as she’s making the sounds. So they aren’t really words but she gets her point across using signs, pointing, motion, and certain inflections in her voice. hehe – Right now though she can say ‘hot’ and ‘Papa’ really well although you wouldn’t be able to distinguish those words unless you hung around her 24/7 like we do… ‘Papa’ for instance sounds like ‘MawMaw’ as she points to a picture of Justin. And Momma… does not have a word. She just looks at me. Blankly. “Duh, Mom, you are standing right here.”

Animal sounds Sam likes to make: dog, lion, duck, kitty, cow, monkey, and sheep.

Favorite Foods: Pasta is the front runner! Bread, cheese, corn, ham, chicken, and on special occasions, she adores cookies. We really need to introduce her to new foods.

Baby Signs: “All Done”, “More”, “Eat”, “Milk”, “Please”, “Read a Book”.

Naps: Just One. And only an hour (…so sad! Says Mommy!)

Milk: She still loves her bottle. She will only drink her milk if it’s in a bottle, warmed up, and she is held in the crook of your arm just like a baby. I guess it’s nice she likes to be cuddled still.

Bedtime: 7:45pm
Wake-up Time: Between 6:30 and 7am

Righty or Lefty: Righty

Teeth: Only 6! Doc said that she is taking her time…

Hair cuts: Papa has threatened Mommy with scary things if she even thinks about this. We are working on the hair clippies (which Sam thinks are extremely tastey…)

States Sam has been to: 3 (Hawaii, Oregon, Louisiana)
Number of times on a plane: 4, maybe 5?

Times to Disneyland: 2
Zoo: Been to several zoo’s and we can’t wait to go to San Diego! Sea World, too!

My morning and afternoon activities: Gymboree, going to the park, and we need to start swim lessons and art class soon!

Favorite shows/movies: Sesame Street, Curious George, and Zoobomafoo

My memory: Is amazing how much she retains! 🙂 Loves to play with playdough, knows where she hides little ‘gems’ that she finds, etc. If I ask her for shoes and socks, she knows exactly where they are.

Climbing: Loves to climb! On the couch, on steps, on desks, chairs, etc. etc. A new one was from the couch to the kitty condo which was freaky. Haven’t had to many bad falls yet. Just a few bruises.

Other Fun Skills: Getting the mail, throwing away trash, putting away the dishes, turning the washer and dryer on and putting away clothes. She loves to feed the puppies and get their bowls for dinner. Using the mouse on the computer is also a fun game.

Looking forward to: Going on the big potty! Start actually talking and learning words. Mastering letters, colors, and body parts.
