Running my First 8k

A few weeks ago I ran my first 8k in Brea and it was amazing! These races are so empowering with so many people next to you running the same race, helpers every few blocks cheering you on, even a band was playing half way through! Jenn was my running partner and I couldn’t have asked for a better one for my first time! Even though she was a super running woman and never stopped jogging, she jogged in place several times to wait for me to catch up. I would periodically slow down and walk but I was keeping my eye out for her and would then go faster to catch up.

You always hear people who say that running is just so easy. You just put on your shoes and go. It’s so true.  It feels like the best workout compared to my Precore too. When you are working on the Precore, it’s easy to zone out reading a book or watching TV and just do the time.  With running/jogging, you seem to be always in the moment.

Of course I got sick the day after and didn’t run for a week but I’m getting back into my groove and want to keep it up! Our time for the 5 miles was 1:08 which is averaging a 13/14 minute mile. It was a great first time and really made me feel good.  I’m looking forward to future runs!

Congrats, Kristi! What an awesome accomplishment. It sounds like you might have the running bug now. Can’t wait to see what you do next. 🙂

Yes! Krisiti did an awesome job! I am going to try to convince her to do a 10k in May. We had a great time, the food at the end was pretty delish too.
