A Pampered Life…

Wednesday morning, I woke up at 12:30am to Sammie.

12:30am is very early. We got up and she demanded to go out of her room (like usual) so we walked downstairs, said hi to the cats, changed her diaper (she hates that), and made a bottle. Walked upstairs, sat in the rocker and she ate the bottle, finished it and curled back to sleep in my arms. I put her in her crib and went back to bed myself. Whew.

7:00am the alarm went off. Justin turned it off and stayed in bed. I dozed back off and on for 25 min while I thought it was really weird he was sleeping in. Especially since he was coming home early while I had my special ‘day’. I finally spoke up at 7:25 and asked him if he was ok. hehe – He freaked out ran around getting ready.

It was Wednesday so we went to Gymboree and then Sammie had a nap. When she got up, we waited for Justin to get home for lunch. I went around and packed her overnight bag (first overnight stay with Grandma!!) and got all the bottles together. Justin came home at 1215 and we sat down to lunch. I chatted for awhile but finally I had to run around to get everything else ready and I jumped in the car!

After 40 min I arrived at the Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel. It was SO BEAUTIFUL. The hotel, the weather, the lobby. Wow. Since it was about 150 and I had a massage booked for 2:15 and you are supposed to get there 30 min early…. Anyway, there was someone at the desk so I walked over the concergie and made dinner reservations for 6pm since Justin was coming out. The lady checked in before me so I was able to check in (with greetings of ‘Happy Birthday!’) and find my room. My room that was at the very end of the hallway. Not just the first hallway but then you turned another corner and went down a longer hallway. I finally had to start running! It was 2pm by then!

When I figured out how to open the door (trust me, it was difficult) I walked in to an amazing suite! A beautiful suite with a couch, flat screen tv, balcony that overlooked the pool… and a HUGE column of birthday balloons! They were amazing, very uniquely put together, and lots of them. Sammie would have loved them. Then, there was a vase of gorgeous purple tulips on the coffee table. There was another vase of purple old fashioned tuplips on the desk. They were edged on the petels, very different and neat. Then, I walked through the glass doors to the bedroom where yet another vase of pink tulips were on the desk. Wow! Tulips are my favorite flower. I actually love all kinds of happy flowers but tulips are so very delicate and springlike. They are perfect for April too. There was also a very mushy card stuck in one of them. As I dropped my bag on the bed I had to grab it and read it before I ran out. The room was AWESOME though.

Since I was at the end of the hallway I tried the stairs. That didn’t work so well as I had to go through the hallways anyway just on the first floor. I ran in where I was greeted with ‘Happy Birthday!’ and they escorted me in. I had about 3 minutes to spare. I sat down in the relaxation room for a few mintues before being introduced to Theresa, my massuse. Ooohhh, it was wonderful.

After my massage I went and tried to text Justin to remember his housekey (we would be switching cars the next morning) and to bring the camera! All those beatiful flowers, I wanted pictures! It wouldn’t text though which was annoying. There was another woman in there emailing on her crackberry and we were laughing about how pathetic we were in checking up on stuff while ‘relaxing’. Hey, checking emails relaxes us I guess! My mani and pedi was next. She buffed my fingernails since I’m a habitual nail ‘tearer’ and nail polish peeler. They are so shiny. I love it. I want to get them buffed all the time. Lindsie was my lady. Cool spelling, huh? She made it up. I thought that was funny. She had the worst story about a boyfriend she was dating for 9 months who turned up married with two kids. Ugh. Nasty nasty story. She was really bitter, poor girl. She was very pretty and nice though and is planning some changes in her life. I hope it turns out well for her.

When I was finished being pampered, it was 4:45 and I had orders to be back at the room at 5pm for a special suprise. I made Justin tell me what it was last week (I hate surprises). So I walked out of the spa to more choruses of ‘Happy Birthday’ and I got a gift!! From the spa! Some yummy gel, an ice cream bath ball, moisterizer… Very very nice. I was shocked.

When I run up to the room, I see the doors to the bedroom are closed… I walk in and there are rose petals everywhere! With a rose heart on the bed! My wonderful husband went completely overboard, it was crazy. Wonderfully crazy. I was also able to explore more… There were 4 different vases of beatiful tulips. Another vase of yellow in the huge bathroom. I took three home with me, they are so gorgeous. The General Manager of the Ritz also left a hand written card saying Happy Birthday. The card was several sentances long (filling the whole card) I was really impressed! He also left a champange glass filled with truffles!!!! Oooh, I think I ate almost all of them later that night, it was so good.

The doorbell rang at 515 with TWO martinis. Not one, but TWO. Justin told me later that it was only supposed to be one. Oh well. I drank them both. 🙂 I actually drank the second one at dinner, I was toasted. 🙂

I started writing this on Thursday night but got distracted and now it is Saturday. Anyway.

Dinner was wonderful. I had bacon wrapped venison. I felt a little bad eating a poor little innocent DEER but Justin pointed out that if I ordered steak, I’d be eating a cow…. I think deer are cuter than cows so I felt a little worse. It was a very YUMMY deer though. If that makes it any better. 🙂 We did not order dessert as I knew they had a yummy room service brownie sundae (I looked). Instead we wandered around a bit but several of the employees mentioned they had a new wine tasting room. Since I was prego the first time we tried wine tasting (I was 6 weeks – it had been planned for awhile) we decided to try again.

Eno is the new wine room at the Ritz. It is SO GOOD! I LOVED wine tasting!! I was already toasted and this just took things to a whole new level. 🙂 Actually I was a little better after getting some food in me. Besides the fact that the prices were ridiculously expensive, we ordered wine and passed on the chocolate and cheese. She gave us two truffles because it was my birthday (god, I love having birthdays!) which were SO GOOD. We each drank half of our ‘flight’ and switched. Justin had all pinor noir and I had a rose, pino grigio, and pino noir. Mine was better. 🙂 His were oakey. As we switched we thought that eating cheese with our wine would be a great idea. Bring on the cheese! The best decision ever! Cheese makes wine taste so much better. We got the California Dreaming flight of cheese, I forget what was in it now (the actual names). It was good though. We drank half of the wine left in the flights, and then switched back to drink the rest of the ones we ordered. It was about a glass and a half of wine total. Highly recommend Eno at the Ritz if you want a special occasion.

The next morning I ordered up some room service for us. Hello, smoked salmon bagel!! I love those so that’s what I got. And took off for my next massage with Rose! It was slightly different and wonderful. It was a hot towel massage. After that, Angie came down and we sat at the pool for an hour and a half and then had lunch. I went home to pick up Sammie (she had tons of fun) and when she saw me, came running over to me to give me a big hugabug. So cute. Mom said she did great, slept through the whole night. Now, why she can’t do that with me is a whole nother story. Grrr.

So, my pampered day was BEAUTIFUL. Absolutely wonderful! Thank you so much to my thoughtful loving husband for pampering his wife in such a decadent manner! 🙂
