It’s Someone’s Birthday…

Tonight we went to see a play at Light of the Canyon Church.  It was actually my step-father in law’s play that he wrote AND acted in! It was so awesome! I loved watching it.

Before we went, we decided to go out to dinner.  We drove to Coco’s since it was right next to the church and it was CLOSED?! Out of business? I have no clue… but we went to The Corner Bakery instead which it seems all kids were running it/working there and the food was a bit… terrible. Soup was cold, sandwiches seemed half made. Pretty weird.  It’s usually a good place.

It was still early when we were done so we decided to drive around the neighborhoods by the church and the Festival so Sammie could see the lights.  There were some CRAAAAZY lit houses in those neighborhoods!! Flying reindeer, lights covering every part of the yard.  Wow! We need to do more driving around to find some cool houses in our neighborhood.

So, I’m driving slow while we are checking out the lights (and J is checking out basketball scores on his phone) and I see an odd sign in one of the hosues. This house was DECORATED to the max with christmas lights. It’s a Happy Birthday sign. It seems really out of place! And there were cars in the driveway so it seemed like a party was going on. And I’m babbling away, as I tend to do, and say ‘Oh, Happy Birthday! Hmm.. Happy Birthday… Jessie?”

Wait.

Oh. Jesus.

Yea, that would make more sense, huh?

Who puts an out of place BIRTHDAY sign on the yard!?  Surrounded by Christmas lights!? Yes, I know I know. But you know, it is said to not ACTUALLY be his birthday on the 25th…(Don’t debate me, I’m not that interested in knowing the details!)

Just saying.

J thought it was hilarious, of course.  It looked like it said Jessie for a second.  Can you blame me!?

That is very funny!! I never really got why people would do the “Happy Birthday Jesus” thing… it seems less sacred that way to me somehow. Whether a “believer” or not, Christmas has a magic, a mystery, wonder, all that. I don’t usually go to a birthday party filled with wonder… only cake 😉
