Sea World Orlando – April 2012

by Kristi on May 29, 2012

This post is LATE. I wrote most of it the week after we got home (early April!) and then promised myself that I would add photos and… it just never happened! So I’m sitting here on Memorial Day weekend sizing and uploading them. 🙂 I’ll probably break this up post up in a few installments.

Our favorite things in Orlando.

Sammie: Getting soaked at Islands of Adventure!! Favorite show was Finding Nemo at Wild Animal Kingdom. Favorite thing was getting a wand. Favorite ride was the Dr Seuss train at Islands of Adventure.

GG: Going to Hollywood Studios and going on Star Tours for the first time.

We flew out on a Sunday and the plane was late, blah blah. Oh well. It was fine but we got into our awesome timeshare condo and promptly fell asleep. On Monday we had our first park and we were OUT the door by… like 9am I think. Which was 6am. Oh well. We had a schedule to keep! (Apparently!)

Sea World was just like the one at home except bigger, more trees, more shade in the stadiums, and more beautiful with all the lakes and water around the park. My favorite was the Blue Horizon show with the dolphins, whale, and acrobatics. Sam said that they added that show in San Diego but I haven’t been there in a few years so I’m not sure!

We had a nice routine where some of us would go to a show early and save seats while the rest walked the kids around. We got to see the animal show which is always so cute! The dolphin show that I mentioned below which was my favorite. There was something wrong with the sea lion show. At some point you think that some of the stuff they are doing is just being ironic but it got to the silly point where it just all seemed to go wrong. The seal wasn’t cooperating with the trainer and everything she was doing seemed to be wrong from coming out on stage early, not turning on her microphone, and weird timing issues. At the end it turned into a laughing fest of errors which ended weird!

We ended the day with the Shamu show. Or One World as they called it.

It’s sad to think that our kids were the last generation to see the trainers get into the water with those whales. Everything was done outside the glass panels or on the ledge.

For dinner we ended up going to Joe’s Crab Shack which was delicious. I cheated a bit and got fish and chips which I realized were breaded after I got the fish. Oops! I then figured I would have a drink after the long day. We went home to crash early for our most important day – Tuesday….

I scheduled the rest of the posts to run this week to give my poor blog some action 🙂 Thanks for reading!
