My Interview with MSNBC – Dashing Dolphins Making a Splash

Well, people. I have now had my 3 minutes and 11 seconds of fame! I was interviewed by Dara Brown of MSNBC and it was such a quick and easy interview. I had a little scuffle trying to figure out my speaker on my laptop so I threw on my headphones but it was fun! I’m on the main Video section of MSNBC right now which is COOL!

I’m so happy that we got to experience this and glad other people could see it too.

It was the first 80 degree day in Southern California for the past month or so and my family invited us, along with a few friends out on the boat. To entertain the kids, we thought we would drive out of the harbor to see the seals sitting on the buoy outside the peninsula. Once we got out there, we decided to take a little drive as we had a girl who had just moved out to California six months ago from a small town in Ohio. We also had my children, age 5 and 2, that we wanted to keep happy. There was a total of 8 people on the boat.

We always see dolphins on the way to Catalina (a 2 hour boat ride in that particular boat – 45 min on the larger Catalina Flyer) and it is a big highlight. My step-dad took the boat out about 10 minutes until he saw a lot of birds flying around a certain area where he saw a lot of water being kicked up. He aimed the boat for that direction and we came across this huge pod of dolphins.  I’m told they were diving for albacore tuna just below the surface.

While we have seen 10 or 20 riding with the boat wake before, there were around 150 of them this time. We tried counting but the sheer amount of dolphins was just the most overwhelming experience that any of us have ever had.

My sister, Katie Morris, said: I have never seen anything like it before. It felt like a miracle being surrounded by so many dolphins. God is GOOD!

My Mother, Jerra Morris, said: Cruising off the coast of Newport Beach California, we came across a huge pod of dolphins….it was the most beautiful sight! My daughter Kristi caught it all on video. We all felt blessed to be a part of this experience.

I took the originals on my iPhone 4 as I was desperately holding on to it, hoping I wouldn’t drop it in the ocean! I stitched it together with Camtasia so I could upload the whole thing on YouTube to send to my friends and family.
